Visiting Meguro River today

  • What it is: About 800 cherry trees line both banks of the Meguro River for 3.8 km, with Nakameguro the busiest stretch.
  • Getting there: Nakameguro Station (Tokyu Toyoko Line and Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line) is right by the river.
  • Best time: The trees usually bloom from late March to early April. In 2026 the Nakameguro Sakura Matsuri was held on 28–29 March, and lanterns light the trees from 17:00 to 20:00 while they are in bloom.
  • Tip: Nakameguro is a residential area, so take your rubbish home, keep off the road and keep the noise down at night.
