Ebisu Yokocho 恵比寿横丁
Visiting Ebisu Yokocho today
- What it is: A covered alley of about 20 small bars and eateries under red lanterns. It opened on 30 May 2008 inside the Yamashita Shopping Center, a former public market that had stood empty for years.
- Food: Yakitori and other charcoal grills, Kyoto-style oden, kushiage, seafood and meat sushi, alongside mushroom dishes and wine bars.
- Getting there: About 2 minutes on foot from Ebisu Station.
- Hours: Around 17:00–5:00, closed on irregular days. Each shop sets its own hours, which can change at short notice.
- Tip: GO TOKYO calls it a great place to start your night and make new friends. Its producer, Hamakura, later created Shibuya Yokocho under Miyashita Park.
