Visiting Enoshima today

  • What it is: A small hilly island joined to the Shonan coast by a bridge. It has Enoshima Shrine, the Sea Candle lighthouse tower, the Samuel Cocking Garden and the Iwaya caves.
  • Getting there: About 20 minutes on foot from Katase-Enoshima Station (Odakyu), or about 25 minutes from Enoden Enoshima Station, across the Benten Bridge.
  • Hours: The island is open at all times. The Sea Candle and garden are generally open 9:00–20:00 (last entry 19:30), and hours vary by event.
  • Admission: The garden is free by day. Sea Candle ¥800; Escar outdoor escalators ¥500; Sea Candle set ticket (garden, Sea Candle, Escar) ¥1,100. Prices for children are lower.
  • Tip: Ride the Escar up and walk back down past the shrines. On clear winter days you can see Mt Fuji across the bay.
