Visiting Lake Kawaguchi today

  • What it is: The most visited of the Fuji Five Lakes, with views of Mount Fuji across the water, museums, lakeside cafes and onsen hotels.
  • Getting there: Fujikyu Line to Kawaguchiko Station. The Red Line loop bus runs from the station around the lake about every 15 minutes.
  • Hours: The lakeshore is open at all times; sights keep their own hours.
  • Admission: Free. Loop bus passes: 1 day ¥1,500, 2 days ¥2,000 adults.
  • Tip: The north shore gives the classic Fuji reflection. Bicycles rent for about ¥600 an hour near the station; the loop is about 20 km.
