Visiting Chureito Pagoda today

  • What it is: A red five-storey pagoda on a hillside above Fujiyoshida, framing Mount Fuji. It is one of the most photographed views in Japan.
  • Getting there: About 25 minutes on foot from Shimoyoshida Station on the Fujikyu Line, then 398 steps up to the viewing deck.
  • Hours: Open 24 hours. Evening lighting roughly 16:00–21:50 in winter and 19:00–21:50 in summer.
  • Admission: Free
  • Tip: Come at dawn for clear Fuji views and fewer crowds. Respect local rules: do not use the restrooms at Shimoyoshida Station or park in residential lanes.
