Visiting Shibuya Hikarie today

  • What it is: A 34-storey tower that opened in April 2012. It has the ShinQs shops and food hall in the basement and lower floors, cafes and restaurants on the 6th and 7th floors, and the Tokyu Theatre Orb from the 11th floor.
  • Getting there: It connects directly to Shibuya Station: by a 2nd-floor walkway from the JR and Keio Inokashira lines, and through exit B5 from the Hanzomon, Fukutoshin and Tokyu lines.
  • Tip: The 11th-floor Sky Lobby is free, open 7:00 to midnight, and looks over Shibuya Crossing and the station.
  • Then and now: This post was written weeks after the building opened. It was a leading project in the redevelopment around Shibuya Station.
