Fuglen Tokyo フグレン東京
Visiting Fuglen Tokyo today
- What it is: The Tokyo branch of Fuglen, a café-bar founded in Oslo in 1963. Fuglen is Norwegian for "the bird". This shop in Tomigaya opened in 2012 as Fuglen's first branch outside Norway, serving coffee by day and cocktails by night.
- Inside: The room is furnished with furniture and wallpaper made in Norway between the 1940s and 1970s, the golden age of Nordic design. By day, try the light "Nordic Roast" coffee, baked goods or Norwegian brown cheese. At night the cocktails use spirits from Norway and beyond.
- Getting there: About 5 minutes on foot from Exit 2 of Yoyogi-koen Station (Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line), or 7 minutes from Yoyogi-Hachiman Station (Odakyu Line).
- Hours: Monday and Tuesday 7:00–23:00 (last order 22:30). Wednesday to Sunday and public holidays 7:00–1:00 (last order 0:30). The daytime menu runs 7:00–21:30, and the night menu starts at 18:00.
- Tip: Go early for coffee, or after 18:00 for cocktails. There is a second Tokyo shop, Fuglen Asakusa, at 2-6-15 Asakusa.
