Visiting Okayama Castle today

  • What it is: The black-walled "Crow Castle" beside Korakuen garden. The keep was destroyed in a 1945 air raid and rebuilt in 1966, with restored interiors such as the lord's room.
  • Getting there: From JR Okayama Station, take the tram towards Higashiyama for about 5 minutes to Shiroshita, then walk about 10 minutes.
  • Hours: 9:00–17:30 (last entry 17:00). Closed 29–31 December; the keep can close for bad weather or inspections.
  • Admission: Adults (high school and up) ¥500 from 1 April 2026, up from ¥400. Elementary and junior high students now free. Combined tickets with Korakuen are sold.
  • Tip: The lift only goes to the 4th floor; the 5th and 6th floors are stairs only.
