Visiting Kibitsu Shrine today

  • What it is: A major shrine linked to the Momotaro legend. Its 1425 main hall is a National Treasure in a unique style, joined to other halls by a 398 m covered corridor.
  • Getting there: From JR Okayama Station, take the JR Kibi (Momotaro) Line to Kibitsu Station, then walk about 10 minutes.
  • Hours: Grounds open daily; we could not confirm exact hours from official sources.
  • Admission: Free to visit the grounds. The Narukama Shinji kettle-divination ritual is done on application at the shrine.
  • Tip: Pair it with Kibitsuhiko Shrine, about 3 minutes' walk from Bizen-Ichinomiya Station on the same line.
