Visiting Teshima Art Museum today

  • What it is: A concrete shell by architect Ryue Nishizawa enclosing Rei Naito's "Matrix" (2010), where droplets of water rise from the floor all day. Part of the Setouchi art islands with Naoshima.
  • Getting there: Ferry to Teshima, then bus from Ieura Port about 15 minutes (or e-bike about 30); Karato Port is a 15-minute walk.
  • Hours: 10:00–17:00 Mar–Sep, 10:00–16:00 Oct–Feb (last entry 30 min before). Closed Tuesdays Mar–Nov; Tue–Thu Dec–Feb; day after holidays.
  • Admission: ¥1,800 online, ¥2,000 on site; 15 and under free.
  • Tip: Date-and-time booking is required, even for free children. If online tickets sell out, there are no on-site sales that day; book early.
