Akihabara 秋葉原
Visiting Akihabara today
- What it is: Tokyo's electronics district, also called Akiba, and the centre for anime, manga, games and figures, with big electronics stores, specialist shops, arcades and capsule-toy halls.
- Getting there: Akihabara Station's Electric Town Exit puts you right in it. The station is on the JR Yamanote, Keihin-Tohoku and Sobu lines, the Hibiya Line and the Tsukuba Express, 4 minutes from Tokyo Station.
- Pedestrian Sundays: Chuo-dori is closed to cars on Sundays, 13:00–18:00 from April to September and 13:00–17:00 from October to March (cancelled in bad weather).
- Tip: Many shops offer duty-free shopping. Weekends get crowded.

Akihabara with Danny Choo
Caught up with Danny Choo who was doing some filming with the BBC TV crew tonight in Akihabara. Looks like Stormtrooper Danny is popular wherever he goes. Between keitai phone photos, flashes popping on normal cameras and the film crew doing their bit, managed to squeeze in a few photos of my own.
