Visiting Miho Museum today

  • What it is: A hillside art museum designed by I. M. Pei, reached through a tunnel and bridge, with ancient world and Japanese art collections.
  • Getting there: From JR Ishiyama Station, Teisan bus bound for Miho Museum to the last stop, about 50 minutes.
  • Hours: Open only during exhibition seasons (spring, summer, autumn). 10:00–17:00, last entry 16:00; closed Mondays (next weekday if a holiday). Autumn 2026 exhibitions run 26 Sep–6 Dec.
  • Admission: ¥1,300 adults; ¥1,000 high school and university students; elementary and junior high free.
  • Tip: Buses are infrequent, so check the return timetable before you go. The museum closes between exhibitions.
