Jishu Shrine 地主神社
Visiting Jishu Shrine today
- What it is: A shrine inside the Kiyomizu-dera grounds dedicated to Okuninushi, a deity linked to finding a good partner. Its two love-fortune stones are said to bring good love if you walk from one to the other with your eyes closed.
- Then and now: The shrine buildings have been under restoration since August 2022, with work expected to last about five to six years. Recent travel listings say the shrine is closed to the public during the work.
- Tip: No reopening date has been announced, so check before you go. The rest of Kiyomizu-dera remains a normal visit.
