Visiting Ojiyama Country Club today
- What it is: An 18-hole hilly course above Otsu with views over Lake Biwa: par 71, 5,216 yards. Fairly short, but accuracy of direction and distance is needed. Run by Rock Field Golf Resort. The clubhouse dining and bath areas face the lake.
- Getting there: From the Meishin Expressway take Kyoto-Higashi IC and follow the Route 161 bypass, exit at Ojiyama, turn right and drive about 5 minutes uphill (a mountain road). About 15-20 minutes from central Otsu and about 20 minutes from central Kyoto via Shirakawa-dori.
- Tip: Reservations open 3 months ahead on the same date; phones are busy in the morning, so call after 9:00 (077-522-1629). In bad weather, opening or closing is decided on the morning of the day.
