The weekend is always a busy day in Yoyogi Park .There are plenty of people out strolling, picnicking, playing ball and generally having a good time. You will also often find some street dancing going on which can provide a unique view of Japan that you don’t normally see.
The following group of guys, looked like they were getting fully in to the spirit of Grease Lightning. Not only had they spent time on their outfits, but the hair styles were also quite befitting of the period. There were plenty of onlookers interested with many tourists getting their cameras out to take some snaps.
This guy looked like the leader and had to be different to the others. Taking his shirt off achieved that purpose, particularly when he revealed some full back tattoos as well.
Meanwhile, about 2 minutes walk away, there were many more tourists out taking a pleasant stroll down towards Meiji Jingu. The pace seemed a bit quieter down there and the cool breeze was very pleasant.
The Ornaments of Japan exhibition is currently on at Meiji Jingu and can be seen here in the background along with the Tokyo2016 Olympic Bid flags.

Thanks ๐
What a peaceful looking park, in the middle of the metropolis. Just to be able to get away from it all. It sure seems like those people embrace the fifties culture of things. It's their form of cosplay, and I applaude that. I love the music from the fifties and the style of dress is cool. Then you move down the line and it's back to the calm and peace.
Gotta vist Japan just have to.:)
Well have a great weekend.

Yeah the park just looks so beautiful. The trees and the houses. I am always surprised how well Japanese people can combine modern technology with traditional things. Just phenomenal!
Wow that dancing event looks interesting, do they do it every often? What was the song they were dancing to?
I like UENO-KOEN more, it's more pleasant during the hanami festivala ๐
Not sure about the song. They are in the park on most weekends.
Didnt catch the song sorry. Ueno Park can be nice too. Also I like Shinjuku Gyoen

Nice looking park. The dancing pictures could easily be a reenactment of West Side Story, Grease or the Outsiders (though there wasn't any dancing there)
