Haneda Airport 羽田空港
Visiting Haneda Airport today
- What it is: Officially Tokyo International Airport, with three terminals. Terminals 1 and 2 handle domestic flights and Terminal 3 is the international terminal, which opened in 2010 and took the name Terminal 3 on 14 March 2020.
- Getting there: Tokyo Monorail and the Keikyu Airport Line both serve the terminals. Keikyu stops at Terminal 1-2 and Terminal 3, and the monorail at Terminals 1, 2 and 3. From the airport, Hamamatsucho is about 13 minutes by monorail, Shinagawa about 15 minutes and Tokyo Station about 30 minutes. A free shuttle bus links the three terminals.
- Observation decks: Terminal 1 has decks on the 6th floor (north and south) and the roof, open 6:30-22:00. Terminal 2 has a 5th-floor deck open 6:30-22:00, plus an indoor viewing floor, Flight Deck Tokyo, open 5:00-23:00. Terminal 3's 5th-floor deck is open 24 hours.
- Tip: The decks can close for bad weather or security reasons, and Terminal Information on 03-5757-8111 can confirm on the day. Terminal 3 is open around the clock and has Edo Koji, a street of shops and restaurants recreating an Edo-period townscape. Shop hours vary.
