Visiting Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park today

  • What it is: A valley where wild Japanese macaques gather, and in cold months soak in a hot spring pool. The monkeys are wild and come and go.
  • Getting there: Express bus from Nagano Station to Snow Monkey Park stop (about 41 minutes), or Nagaden train to Yudanaka and a bus, then about 35 minutes on a forest path.
  • Hours: 8:30–17:00 April–October; 9:00–16:00 November–March. Arrive 30 minutes before closing.
  • Admission: ¥800 adults, ¥400 children. Fees will be revised from 1 December 2026.
  • Tip: Monkeys may not appear at all on some autumn days; check the park's attendance forecast. Pets, including assistance dogs, are not allowed.
