Visiting Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum today

  • What it is: One of the world's major dinosaur museums, with dozens of full skeletons and fossils from Katsuyama's own dig sites.
  • Getting there: From Katsuyama Station (Echizen Railway), about 10 minutes by taxi or by community bus.
  • Hours: 9:00–17:00 (last entry 16:30); summer holidays 8:30–18:00. Closed 2nd and 4th Wednesdays (except summer) and New Year.
  • Admission: ¥1,000 adults; ¥800 high school and university; ¥500 elementary/junior high and over-70s; under 6 free.
  • Tip: Buy tickets online ahead of weekends and school holidays, when queues at the door are long.
