Arriving at Canal City.

After a day out at Dazaifu in August 2010, I spent the evening at Canal City Hakata, the big shopping and entertainment complex in central Fukuoka. A canal runs through the middle of it, with curved, brightly coloured buildings on both sides, and at night the whole place is lit up.

It is about a 12-minute walk from Hakata Station.

Later that night I went on to the yatai food stalls by the river, which is the other thing you have to do in Fukuoka at night.

I took these photos in August 2010 and only got round to posting them in 2026.
