Japan Key Protectors

6 Rilakkuma key protectors in the set to collect.
6 Rilakkuma key protectors in the set to collect.

I picked up a Rilakkuma key protector for my apartment keys. It came in a round plastic ball which when opened popped out the “HAPPY XMAS” Rilakkuma themed protector. The idea is that it covers the top of the key so that you have a softer object in your bag or pocket when carrying around your keys.

You can see on my key chain I also have a small Tokyo Station plate and DoCoMo character goods.

The key for my apartment has dimples in it rather than just a cut line. This is supposed to make it harder to forge the keys. It also looks a lot cooler ^^.

What are keys like in your part of the world? Do they have dimple ones like this? Do you have key protectors as well?

可愛い!(Just like most Rilakkuma merchandise!)

Having said that, isn’t the part of the key most likely to do damage as it rattles around in your bag the metal part, rather than the top…?

good for identification though. I have seen a complete protector for keys, but to use the key then you have to take the whole thing off which seems a bit of a pain.

I didn’t know there were key protectors, but since its a Rilakkuma merchandise just makes me want to go out and get one for myself.

I use a Domokun one that I got in New York just over a year ago. Today my wife bought a Snoopy one from Tokyo Character Street under Tokyo Station. We use them for identification – not protection.

I was on Tokyo Character Street myself today. Maybe I passed your wife but would never have known. 🙂

I’d needed one when my key broke. The base got split and just left the longest part.

(btw, I cannot change avatar, do I need to have a # of posts? edit function doesn’t allow)

Sorry, I haven’t written a very good explanation about the avatars. The avatars are currently based of having a “global avatar, gravatar” which can be found here. http://gravatar.com/ It is run by the same company that make wordpress. It finds your avatar for the site based on your email address.

Really appreciate the nice community coming together here. Let me know if there are any problems with avatar, login etc. Some of the features are still coming together, others are waiting for me to be reminded to roll out. 🙂

To continue on your mention of ” Some of these features” your talking about – What’s the “donate points” option ^_^ ? Does it cost me .. money O_o ? (thinks of money when reading the word: donate – lol)
Probably to rate good comments I suppose ? Am still affraid to touch it

Ah and- Rillakuma key protector rocks ! ( Also love the JR one too. JR sen is my Japanese hero. Along with Mr Asahi and One Cup O-ji sama)

thanks. was just testing this code from another page and didn’t realize i made it live ^^. my mistake. no donations required 🙂 it was a point system where you could transfer (donate) points from one member to another. i was just testing something out to show the number of comments by each user and add location into the user profile for the comments section.

I added in ability to put photos in comments but not sure yet whether this is something people want to use.

JR is also a favorite of mine. Their products are very cool.

RT @Shibuya246: Japan Key Protectors, Japan character goods | Shibuya246 http://bt.io/BYHg More cool Rilakkuma products. Wish i could get it. Just have had the unfortunate situation of being out of work, and not being able to find a job. Seems like everytime I apply my app just goes on file. The Rilakkuma and the train station ones are the neatest ones. Our keys over here just have the lines in them, never seen one w/little holes, maybe only in Japan.
You guys are the best friends I’ve ever had, even though I’ve never met any of you. 🙂
Also when I login I still have to refresh the page to see my avatar at the top.
