Great colors for a xmas tree here at the top of the stairs for 109 store. The girl on the left seems pleased to see the tree as well.
Since so many people said they liked the photos from the last set of Shibuya Streets and were looking for more, I decided to take some follow up photos on the streets around the scramble crossing and 109 store area.
There are many people out with video cameras conducting interviews in Center-gai. some are TV stations, others are, well who knows? This lady appears to be from TV Asahi.Plenty of toy characters on display here at the Taiyaki store in Center-gai. Which ones can you name?B'z helping to celebrate Christmas in Shibuya this year with the promotion of their new albumNodame Cantabile, the movie, coming out on December 19, 2009. Ueno Juri and Tamaki HiroshiThe HOT PEPPER bus makes a quick spin through the streets of the scramble crossing. What is that Tokyu Hands bag pointing at?This Family Mart is always crowded on the way up Dogen-zaka. You will probably find it packed at lunch time with workers from 109. Plenty of fashion on display in this shop when the lunch break is onUntil recently it was hard to find a convenience store in Center-gai or Dogenzaka. Now Family Mart in particular have opened a few and are doing good businessWith the weather getting colder, it is boot season in Tokyo at the moment. Plenty of great boot fashions to see on the streetA really bright pink bag here with a bow, the focus point of this outfit. I like the blur of the trees in this shot reflecting her movement in the shotDean & Deluca has become quite a popular shop in Tokyo with locations at Tokyo Station, Shinagawa Station and other places The lights at the bottom of Dogenzaka, leading on to the scramble crossingMore boots out on the street here. Lots of different types and designs, but the dominant color was definitely blackSubtly different, but also very similar. Note the black againAdvert for a Pachinko storeLooking across towards Bic Camera, A and B kanIt was cold out. Some people were dressed to cover up, others didn't seem to mind so much. Do you feel the cold in winter?
Outside the 109 store there are always lots of model agencies and magazine fashion shoots happening. Most of them are impromptu, stopping girls on the street and asking if they mind posing for the camera.
After having a photograph taken, the cameraman shows the girl her picture to check she is ok with itThis looks more like a pre-organised professional shoot. Interesting choice of skirt. Nice smileWorking those angles now with some great street fashion shotsTaking a break to check the photos takenAs well as photo shoots, there are a lot of people conducting questionnaire interviews as well. Here is someone getting a few answers recordedAs popular a place as Shibuya is, the advertising boards are looking a little bare recently. With the economy picking up again we should see these filling up shortlyThe advertising above Shibuya Station is always full. Here we have Disney, Softbank and KDDI all competing for spaceSome big brand names looking down this street from the scramble crossing. ZARA, Tsutaya, Marui, Tower Records. What else can you spot? There are a few shops underneath the railway line here. Can you see the one in blue. It is called Scramble and serves among other things eggs. ^_^A few Christmas decorations going up at the entrance to Center-gaiIf you have spent a bit of time in Shibuya you have probably seen this character before. I first saw him about 22 years ago.More boots at the station Shibuya Station. Busy as everOutside Shibuya stationSome more great boot fashion and black stockings. Standard fashion accessories in Shibuya at this time of year.
What are your favorite street fashions? Do you like hats, t-shirts, boots? What is the focal point of fashion when you view someone for the first time? What catches your attention?
I put together a quick YouTube video with the above photos after a suggestion by whipcracker and used the YouTube stock music. (sorry, couldn’t get DownTown). Anyone know what the copyright situation is with attaching music to vids? Is there a time limit where you can use the first 45 seconds or something?

All the sites of what i would call around here”DownTown” Shibuya all were missing is music to go along w/the great Photos. One song does come to mind it’s called “Downtown” by Petula Clark. Do you remember that song? It fits perfectly, what do you think? Now just what were you thinking about showing where that Tokyu Hands bag was pointing, he he he? I know all in good fun. 🙂 I should know all the stores by heart seeing them so many times from your photos, but is that a MacDonalds on the right hand side of the picture?
What does Hot Pepper and the “Peanuts” characters have in common on the bus? Those signs in Center-Gai the one looks like a Pokeman character, the one above it looks like it’s from Nodame Cantabile and the last one looks like the actor who starred in Buzzer Beat and Code Blue. And who is that character you first saw 22 yrs ago? Looks outta place there, imo, could use a trim and haircut.
It looks like only 1 person noticed you taking photos.
Well it’s past my bed time here in Tx.
Have a good rest of the weekend. 🙂
RT @Shibuya246: Shibuya Streets Vol 7, Japan Single Photo | Shibuya246 http://bt.io/AUEz Thanks for the video. goes great with the photos. I like wearing hats, never go out without 1. Especially my Indiana Jones fedora that I bought at DisneyWorld.
everytime I visit your site I feel like i’m in Tokyo already. if i ever get out of my financial doldums, watch out I’ll be there. 🙂
would really like to go on a photo walk with you to get the true perspective of what life is like there. 🙂
Could you let us know who that gentleman is that you saw 22 years ago?
Domo Arigatou!
I think he lives at Shibuya station.
Yes probably he lives at Shibuya station. I met him many times too and I took photos of him too. he’s funny!!
Nice collection o’ boots 😉
Why do your pics always have such bright colors? They are so good!
I really enjoyed reading.
Quoting whipcracker, who’s the long time acquaintance of some 20yrs ago?
Thanks. It was only at the top of the stairs she put her arms out and I just happened to grab the shot as she did. I would have liked to ask the other person to move, but that is street photography. With the wall on the left and the person on the right, the frame was too tight to zoom in further and then loose the tree.
Shibuya Streets is your most interesting feature, keep it up! Always fun to walk around the Shibuya 109 area and see random girls get photographed for fashion magazines.
Thank you. Its great to know you like the photos. I took more today but wasn’t sure whether everyone would want to see back to back posts of Shibuya Streets. 🙂
Ah, the Softbank slippers ! I’d love to have a pair of those, they’re so cute !
I didn’t see any photo shootings when I went to Shibuya, just a mad crowd in front of the Adidas store. I walked closer, and saw a black Hummer pulling an Airstram trailer painted to look like a shoe, stopping in front of the store for a minute before leaving. I only learned later at night while watching the news that it was because Zinedine Zidane made a promotional visit to the store.
That bag is performing a Sennen Goroshi no Jutsu in my opinion :p
Normally my focus goes to the whole outfit. Boots, skirts, shirts and hairstyle have to go together but,… I really like those typical japanese girl long summer shirt’s, I think you know what I mean 😉
Love the photo of Starbucks. Was in Shibuya in October and was sitting in the window on right hand side of your photo having a latte on a wet night!!! Made me smile at the memory!
Glad you like it and even more pleased it brings back memories. When I am overseas for vacation or work and see a photo of Shibuya I always yearn to get back there. Nothing like sitting back relaxed overlooking the Scramble Crossing and contemplating life. 🙂 Welcome to the shibuya246 community.
Great pictures! I see Tony Tony Chopper!!! :DDDDDD I’ve been wanting to get some awesome boots similar to those for awhile too, I just hope I can find them for an affordable price!

I added a video but couldn’t get the music you suggested 😉 You are getting good at spotting the sights. When you get to Tokyo you won’t be lost 🙂

Looking again, if 1st pic had been without the other girl taking a photo, it would have been perfect.
That’s a good one, really.

That yellow monk looks creepy , Is he smiling ??
That old guy looks like his hiding something under is jacket ? Eroge ??
Curious about the game on ad near the pachinko store .
Looks like Pokemon is still strong in Japan ^_^

I really miss Shibuya :/
Shibuya is the place I miss most whenever I go overseas 🙂
I like your photos. They’re all so colorful and lively. I’ve never been to Shibuya but I can imagine how it is like with your photographs.
Fasinating photos and stories. It’s as if I was there….. well almost there. “)
New user…love your photos, they are soooooo good.

Lovely street photography. I especially liked the photo of the monk outside the shibuya station and the babe with the gold mini-skirt ^^
The monk is yours. Babe with mini skirt, we might need to toss a coin 😉
Ah! In one of the pictures, there was an ad for AI’s BEST album. In another, an ad for Yamapi’s “Loveless” single <— which is amazing! =)
For some reason I cant register to your site 🙁
The pictures is beautiful by the way 😀
