Visiting Adachi Museum of Art today

  • What it is: A museum of modern Japanese painting, best known for its meticulously kept gardens. You view them through the windows like living paintings.
  • Getting there: Free shuttle bus from JR Yasugi Station (San'in Line), about 20 minutes.
  • Hours: 9:00–17:30 (April–September), 9:00–17:00 (October–March). Open year-round.
  • Admission: ¥2,300 adults, ¥1,800 university students, ¥1,000 high school, ¥500 elementary and junior high.
  • Tip: The gardens look different through the seasons. Look for the 'living hanging scroll' window framing the garden in the tea area.
