Ibusuki Sand Baths 指宿砂むし
Visiting Ibusuki Sand Baths today
- What it is: A seaside hot-spring custom: in a cotton yukata, you lie on the beach and staff shovel naturally heated black sand over you, then rinse off in the baths.
- Getting there: From JR Ibusuki Station (Ibusuki Makurazaki Line from Kagoshima-Chuo), Sand Bath Hall Saraku is about 20 minutes on foot or 3 minutes by car.
- Hours: Vary by facility; we could not confirm Saraku's current hours on an official page.
- Admission: Charged; the sand bath price includes the hot-spring bath and yukata. Check the current fee with Saraku.
- Tip: Ten to fifteen minutes under the sand is plenty; buy a face towel at the counter.
