Visiting Hitachi Seaside Park today

  • What it is: A large coastal park famous for hills of blue nemophila flowers in spring and kochia bushes that turn red in autumn.
  • Getting there: Ibaraki Kotsu bus from JR Katsuta Station, about 15 minutes.
  • Hours: 9:30–17:00 (to 18:00 from 21 July to 31 August; to 16:30 from November to February). Closed Tuesdays (next weekday if a holiday).
  • Admission: ¥450 adults, ¥210 seniors 65+, free for junior high and younger. In nemophila and kochia seasons a ¥350 surcharge applies (¥800 adults in 2026).
  • Tip: Nemophila peaks around late April and kochia in mid October. Arrive at opening time to avoid queues.
