Visiting Nyuto Onsen today

  • What it is: A group of seven remote hot-spring inns in beech forest at the foot of Mount Nyuto, known for milky outdoor baths.
  • Getting there: From JR Tazawako Station, Ugo Kotsu Nyuto Line bus, about 45 minutes to Nyuto Onsen. Tsurunoyu shuttle meets buses at Arupa Komakusa if booked.
  • Hours: Day bathing hours vary by inn; Tsurunoyu closes day baths on Mondays for cleaning.
  • Admission: Each inn charges separately; Tsurunoyu lists ¥700 adults, ¥300 children.
  • Tip: Call Tsurunoyu ahead with your bus time so their shuttle can collect you; the Nyuto bus runs about once an hour.
