Mino Bridge over the Nagara River.

A short walk north of Mino's old udatsu streets, the Nagara River runs wide and clear past Mino Bridge (美濃橋). Completed in 1916, it is the oldest modern suspension bridge in Japan and a National Important Cultural Property.

The red steel towers and cables stand out against the green hills, and the Nagara is known as one of the clearest rivers in Japan.

The sign by the bridge: a National Important Cultural Property.

It makes a nice short detour from the old town, especially late in the afternoon when the light is on the river and the hills.
