Western Tokyo stretching out under the clouds.

In August 2009 I went up Carrot Tower in Sangenjaya, a couple of stops from Shibuya. The 26th floor has a free observation lobby with views over western Tokyo, from the Shinjuku skyscrapers to the highway construction that I wrote about in my Ohashi Junction post.

It was a cloudy summer day, so no Mt Fuji, but you can see it from here when the sky is clear.

Carrot Tower itself, from the street.

It is one of the easiest free views in Tokyo: right next to Sangenjaya Station, no ticket, and hardly any queue.

I took these photos in August 2009 and only got round to posting them in 2026.
