Nice group of faces in the crowd waiting to cross at the Scramble Crossing.
After the snow the night before, I went out in Shibuya and took some photos yesterday. The town looked really peaceful and the sun had started to come out. It’s great to be in Shibuya ^_^.
It is cold out today after the snow, but nobody seems to be worried that much.Sakuraya announced they are closing all stores, which will include this one in Shibuya's Center-gai. There has been a slow change in Shibuya for older stores to make way for new brand name stores like HMV, adidas, Zara, H&M etc. I wonder if anyone has an eye on this spot yet. Uniqlo are due to open a store in Dogenzaka shortly. This would have made a good spot for them.Looking up Dogenzaka past 109 to the right. With Yamada Denki's LABI opening, it must have been hard for BIC Camera to compete. Hearing that Sakuraya is leaving Shibuya might help them. Of course if Yodobashi Camera hit Shibuya with a large store that would make it harder still.Shibuya street fashion on show as people wait to cross at the lights.A group of friends out for the day in Shibuya. An advertising truck up very close.I wondered what this cameraman was trying to take up on his ladder.... and then I found through the crowd he was taking model shots of a guy with his shirt off. On a cold Winter day in Shibuya you have to give this guy points for effort.Lots of brand and cute bags in the action here. Guy in the front of frame just leaned in as I clicked the shutter. Pity.Plenty of time to amble across the street here. When it is crowded it can be very difficult to cross, but on a day like today, its just like a stroll in the park.Shop signs sticking out on the right trying to get everyone's attention.People starting to gather waiting to cross. Shibuya fashion can be bags, clothes or even just face masks.happymail and their advertising has been around for a while now. They must be bringing in enough money to support the marketing campaign. I keep getting their tissue promotion packs when they are handed out at the station.Big ears on this album promotion. I wonder what they said when the manager first suggested it?When the lights turn green everyone is off to their destinations. The Electric Love Tour advertising truck makes another pass through the crossing. When you are waiting for the lights to change, there is always enough time to fire off a few mails or check an update on the web. In the last 10 years, the world has become a very connected place. There are many model, job and talent scouts in Shibuya looking for new recruits. It must be hard to figure out which ones are genuine and which are not so ... genuine. The Shibuya Scramble Crossing is very casual. If you are late crossing the road and the lights change, normally the cars don't honk in disapproval and nobody tries to run you down ^^.
That looks cold. Notice how nobody is really looking or paying him any attention. He could probably take his pants off and still no-one would glance back.
no waaayy. i miss this town! i love shibuya! i love the place. the traffic. the shops. the starbucks. and so the people!
i wanna back to shibuya agaaiin.. (>_<) thanks for the photo anyway ♥
Somehow I never seem to get board looking at photos like this. Even though they are of apparently mundane subjects, people crossing the road, they are always interesting. I guess this must be the same for other places which are so different from where you’re from. To countries like Japan, I’m sure the streets of London are equally fascinating but to me are just ordinary. Keep on taking the pics, even if it is just to indulge me.
It’s strange isn’t it. I keep thinking, “not more photos of Shibuya”, but when I look at them myself I find them interesting as well. Must be something special about the Shibuya area 🙂
Amazing photos as usual, I love the pictures of the pretty and fashionable ladies! That guy without the shirt…I can’t imagine that cold >< I wish I could see that Big Bang tour!! I am their fan^^
Good post as usually.
Here’s my little rant.
I’m so excited when I look over these photographs, because at some point I wish to move to Japan. I had the same wish and experienced the same excitement when I lived in Ukraine. I really wanted to know what its like to live in Canada..But now that I’m here, it’s become boring, in a way. Its one thing to go traveling to other countries and not worry about the job or education, or family(who has one). I guess, just like in Canada, it is the same in Japan-people go to work, pay taxes, go to bed and work again and people forget that they are living the lives they’ve always wanted to. I guess, that’s how I feel, in a way.
I share the same “excitement” with Danny Choo’s blog. Its just, Mr Choo’s blog is more focused on Otaku, Manga and Dolllife, and somewhat Japan. Your posts are focused on the daily life and Japan overall.
For some reason Im extremely attracted to the Japanese culture and people alone, the Manga and Otaku cultures are secondary for me.
I think they are empty in the bag. Seems like a waste of having them using all that gas carrying nothing 🙂

I think there is a deffinate animal theme here. W/stripes on the hose, and the print on her jacket, just can’t put my finger on it.

RT @tweetmeme Shibuya Streets Vol 10, Japan shibuya streets http://bit.ly/aD6En1 I’ll never stop liking your Shibuya streets photos.
Because everytime I see the crossing and starbcks and center gai, I just want to crawl through the computer screen and be there. I also agree w/johnkent the last 2 lines of his response. This is a much more well rounded view of the area I want to visit.
Everyone looks so cold (except the shirtless guy). AHH! So cool you have a pic of the Big Bang tour truck! I wish I was in Japan to see the guys! You should check out their music.
Might have to do that. Obviously the truck advertising is working. 🙂

That last picture is really cool.
Thanks. Normally the first picture of the day and the last picture of the day always hold some sort of special charm 🙂
Again good catches.
20+ yrs in the place maybe do count 🙂
It’s really beautiful to see that summer or winter Shibuya looks full of possibilities for great pics.

I am sure he was cold. I had a large coat to keep me warm and a hat 🙂
I just shopped in ZARA the other day but I was in Las Vegas. The have great clothes for a good price
fantastic. From Vegas to Shibuya in 1 day 😉
Japanese girls are so beautiful. Why am I so obsessed? Is it okay for a white guy to be so obsessed?
I’m sure there are many Japanese girls who would equally like to meet your acquaintance. 😉
In my country (UA) they’d laugh at this advertisement…

Thank you. Glad you like the photos. It is nice to see everyday life in pictures 🙂
do those advertising trucks carry anything in that back compartment?
