Trying to find the way home through Center-gai in Shibuya during snow

We had snow in Tokyo tonight. Normally we get a bit of snow between January and March, but it doesn’t normally settle so easily. I expect by the morning this snow will also have melted away and things should be back to normal. It was not so cold out, so I took a quick walk out to see what everyone was up to.

Mt Fuji on a sunny evening

It is snowing tonight in Tokyo, a bit heavier than the other day, with maybe a chance of it settling over night. For Valentines Day, however, I thought it might be nice to see a sunny picture of Japan. Here is Mt Fuji taken from Roppongi Hills yesterday evening. The sun had just set to the right hand side. You can see the faint glow dropping down the side of the mountain.

I really liked the mystery clouds directly above Mt Fuji.

The new Tokyo Sky Tree is slowly, or maybe quickly, edging towards the sky. I managed to grab this photo from the top of Roppongi Hills, showing Tokyo Tower on the right with the new Tokyo Sky Tree in the distance out to the left.

Shibuya Sunset

There are a number of places to see a great view of Tokyo City from high up. One of those is Roppongi Hills. In the evening you can see the sun setting over Mt Fuji. It was a bit cold today, but I thought it might be a good chance to catch Mt Fuji with a clear sky. There was a little bit of cloud around but otherwise the view was quite nice.

New Grand Hotel, Yokohama

This Myoto Camphor Tree is estimated to be over 900 years old

When I was traveling around Shikoku I came across this great Camphor tree that is over 900 years old. That dates it back to around the year 1100. Imagine the history and battles that this tree has lived through to still be standing here today within Iznagi Jinja.

Another set of cars passes on the way

Mount Bizan is very close to the center of Tokushima. You can ride the Bizan ropeway up part of the way and get a good view of the town. The ropeway starts inside the Awaodori Kaikan about 15 minutes walk from Tokushima Station.

I have not been up in a cable car for a while. The start was a bit shaky, but it soon was smooth sailing

The sun was just setting when I came across this scene. The cloud coverage hid the sun and gave a perfect golden reflection in the bay. I drove down the bridge in the right of the picture later. It was quite a ride.

The shibuya246 has been down for a few days and I have only just managed to get it back up. The problem, basically, was hackers!! I have the main part of the site back up now and am checking the database files. Everything should be running just as before.

There are lots of photos (about 1,200 in total) to be processed from my recent trip to Shikoku. For the moment I will leave you to enjoy this sunset from Naruto (鳴門). I am sure most of you known the anime, Naruto. It is a peaceful scene which doesn’t really match the title of “site problems”, but then, for a moment, I thought the sun might have been setting on shibuya246.

Enjoy and look forward to some more trip photos.

Meguro Gajoen and Arco Tower. There is a good Konami gym in Arco Tower. Also note the Love Hotel on the right

I have been going to the gym in Meguro recently and walk past Meguro River often. Normally it is late in the evening when the light is just fading. Here are a few shots of the River from different angles. In April, this whole area is pink with Sakura.

A great place to get set up and paint for the day.

I took a walk around Yamashita Koen in Yokohama today after having lunch at Chinatown. The park was teeming with people enjoying the start of Golden Week and the good weather. This gentleman was painting the scenery in the midst of it all.

Looking down the park, the sakura color was really nice in the light rain.

With the rain in Tokyo coming after such a warm day yesterday, the Sakura trees were having a hard time figure out whether to bloom or fall. It looks like this coming weekend may see the start of some nice sakura fubuki shots.

This was a reflected image off the ground.

The sakura looked really cold out in the rain, with the Sony HQ building here as a backdrop.

Ueno Park, Sakura Japan

I went out to Ueno Park today to see the Sakura, which are at full bloom. As expected it was crowded with people enjoying the fine weather. There were many groups camped under the trees eating and drinking, with many more walking down the pathway taking photos.

I have a full set of photos I will put up tomorrow. I still haven’t chosen which ones to display. Taking the photos is not the hard part. Choosing which ones get shown and which ones don’t make the cut is the hardest. Need some editorial assistance maybe ^^. I have the Sakura shots down to 74 from the original 400, so will try and pick a final 35 for tomorrow to post.

It was my birthday today, so here is a birthday Sakura shot until I put the rest up tomorrow.
