Mitsubishi Museum, Minato Mirai

On a recent trip to Yokohama my family and I visited the Mitsubishi Industrial Museum at Minato Mirai. We were very surprised by the volume of information and amount of entertainment value the displays could provide. Definitely worth a trip if you are visiting the area. I think Monday’s are holidays.

Lots of good exhibits in the astronaut and space area.

Space Exhibit and statue near the entrance way. I think the statue is a copy of a famous statue somewhere else in the world. Anyone know its location?

Some space food in the gift shop for you to take home. Not exactly your regular Conbini Monday items but interesting.

URASHIMA is Mitsubishi's marine robot.

Drilling Vessels are also part of the work Mitsubishi is involved in.

A look at some deep sea robotic machinery. This sub looks awfully small and cramped, but I am sure it is state of the art.

One of the specially crafted ropes to pull up vessels from the sea. Got to be strong to hold a lot of weight. Looks great as well.

A model of future city and technologies that Mitsubishi plays a role in. This model looks a bit like Yokohama Minato Mirai area, but the airport was a surprise!!

Looking at a reactor coolant system. Mitsubishi is really involved with many diverse technologies.

A dolphin telephone. Fantastic, and what a great reaction to go with it.

These older style aircraft would have been good to fly in. I got my pilots license in a Cessna which was a lot of fun, but haven't kept it current. Maybe I should take a flight in Japan somewhere in a light plane.

This helicopter would be fun to take out for a spin.

Mitsubishi is involved with small to very large items. This tanker is amazing.

The Sushi set which makes up the moving picture show display.

A learning experience at this exhibit showing why aircraft can fly.

There was a good library in the museum as well to really brush up on some of the latest technology.

A display showing a Power Generation Block. Lots of things to touch and see.

I liked the animation on this display. Very simple but funny to look at.

It was a great day out, which if we go back to Yokohama we may repeat. Normally I am not a fan of Museums but this one was quite interactive and fun. Do you like Museums with exhibits to just look at, or do you like to play with them?
