Conbini Monday Wk35

The oden is still out at the convenience store while we are in winter.
The oden is still out at the convenience store while we are in winter.

This weeks Conbini Monday saw me shopping for the first Conbini Box items that a number of people have ordered. Thanks for all those who put their order in. I have visited 8 conbini’s just today trying to collect all the items. I had to remember where I bought each one and then found some didn’t have enough stock.

I didn’t get much time to snap photos in between buying the items, but here is what we have for today.

Nodame gets her own potato chips. Cool.

Lots of Doraemon snacks and some EVA cards going into the Conbini Box.

Chiki Buns for 50 yen. Was not game to actually try one of these.

Apparently, this snack became very popular since Ishikawa Ryo, the Japanese golf champion said he liked it. All the conbini's are now stocking it.

Too hard to keep track of the new kit kat flavors. There are so many. This is supposed to be new, milk coffee, but it sound familiar.

Did you get anything at the Conbini today to kick of Conbini Monday for the 2010 year?

I reviewed the “Black Thunder” awhile back on my snack blog, and it is good (as well as cheap). It is like a chocolate-covered Oreo cookie (without the filling). The bars are small, but enough to satisfy. And you’re right about the KitKat sounding familiar. This is the second coffee-style KitKat in a relatively short period of time (the other was espresso).

I would have definitely bought the 50-yen chicken bun for sampling though, but I’m a bit masochistic. 😉

Neon Genesis Evangelion, my #1 favorite anime of all time. Wish I had some of those card packs. What’s the cost?

RT @tweetmeme Conbini Monday Wk35, Japan Conbini Monday | Shibuya246 http://bit.ly/5hg9Hv A cool selection of products this week. i’ve seen a few of the Nodame eps seems ok, will have to watch more to give judgement. The chips look good though. Chiki buns 50 yen??? intro price/ maybe I’d try though. I guess Ryo will have to pick up the slack seeing what’s with Tiger and all. Liquor and chocolate is quite good, and there seems to be as many flavors of Kit Kat as there is Pocky. Should have taken Rilakkuma w/you to help out w/a lending paw. 🙂 Hope everyone enjoys their conbini box, it’s sure nice of Shibuya to do this for everyone, wish I could participate but can’t 🙁
Have a great week 🙂

Often enough I’ve stared at the Oden in Sunkus or 7/11 but I never purchased it. It just didn’t seem … hmm appropriate or atmospheric for Oden in a Conbini I suppose ^_^; Tough I did have it at a small cozy restaurant and also the Akiba only: canned Oden!
Here’s a snap I took of said Oden dispenser in Akiba, there’s supposedly only this one. It’s actaully, for canned & out of a machine to be considered NOT BAD ! Tough stay the *** away from the pudding that’s also next to it 🙂

I am in Japan right now and promised all my friends I would bring them interesting Kit Kat flavors…I am having trouble finding anything that interesting. I found that milk tea flavor and some strawberry and one English coffee flavor but I am having trouble finding anything else. Do you know any conbinis that tend to carry a lot of Kit Kats? I am in Tokyo so any place you might have been is convenient for me.

I would probably recommend trying a supermarket or also Tokyo Station. You will probably find some of the interesting flavors in the gift stores. They are normally seasonal, so the flavors come and go.

You can also send some of these at the post office.
