intersting comments about the iPhone - I use an iPod touch to tweet, blog and e-mail when not at home and have wifi available, also have apps that allow me to create documents and spreadsheets. very handy. As you said, you can switch apps much faster on the iPhone/iPod touch than you can on a computer. Great article. :D

RT @Shibuya246: Father of i-mode, Japan Technology | Shibuya246 http://bt.io/ARSk Technology LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT. In this article I could be here all day putting my thoughts down. Do we embrace it or let it over whelm us? I guess you could say the future is NOW, but is everybody willing to accept it? Privacy issues with all the phones is endless. Where will all of this take us? The new phone over here is the Droid. In CM's Verizon is touting it's coverage vs AT&T. Apps for this vs Maps for that. Most of the phone companies have the standard 2 yr contract and also say they have the largest 3G network available then 4G network. Who is the best? It's for YOU to decide.
This could be a great round table discussion, the possibilites would be endless. I remember when tou posted the article on you hooking your tv up w/You Tube.

I-mode ceased to exist in 09.2009 here in Italy. The only phone company that had it stopped supporting it.
Phones that could support that type of protocol were expensive and overpriced.
Internet access is way too costly here, you can't have a real flat plan and you always end up with unsatisfactory deals unless you are a biiiiig comapny. Iphone is for the wealthy, we don't have much free wifi (maybe 0.5% of the territory), nor paying for hotspots as only hotels provide expensive connectivity.

Japan is way ahead on communications. I heard that NTT gigabit is around the corner, we still have digital divide and max Adsl we have is 20mbit (I have it and max speed never exceeds 1.5 mB in download) and 1mbit in upload (as we are not on fiber optic but still old copper telephone lines - and sometimes they steal the cables too ...).

Now China wants to invest 100 trilion euros in italian telecommunications infrastructures, we need halp from China...

Yes, japanese companies should come here to see how bad conditions are.
