Japanese Giant Pumpkin

The 23rd annual Giant Pumpkin Contest was held on the weekend in Kagawa-ken. This years winner is shown in the video. the pumpkin weighed 508.4 kilograms. That’s a lot of pumpkin.

I wonder what they were feeding the soil to make one that big.

The winner of the even is planning to enter his giant pumpkin in the US contest this October in Orange County.

… and after that they’ll probably make some pumpkin soup.

What is the biggest pumpkin you have ever seen?

RT @Shibuya246: Japanese Giant Pumpkin, Japan Food | Shibuya246 http://bt.io/FZc Now that’s a giant pumpkin!
What is the weight in terms of lbs.? Not very good at kilo vs lbs in math. I’ve had pumpkin soup before it was quite tasty, just put a dash of cinnamon and sugar for my taste, yummy. Good luck in the US competition. People take this type of thing quite seriously, in how they are grown. I’ve never really seen or been near a giant pumpkin before.
