The kids beating the large drum

Another day, another matsuri (festival), this time in Sakuragaoka-cho (桜丘町), Shibuya. This was just a local matsuri involving the kids carrying the omikoshi through the streets. Looks like they had a good time.

every matsuri needs someone following behind to lend support

Recently there have cases of omikoshi being stolen. Best put this one away safe for next year.

Just how many matsuries are held? Seems like 1 is just done and another starts up. Is this a weekly occurance or monthly? To bad things have to be put away so they don’t get stollen. But it sure looks like every one had a great time. And another thing they are so colorful. A treat for all the senses.

  2. I love how they use so many different colours on their Matsuri. As a Brazilian who knows a lot about carnival I can quite relate to it. It’s absolutely beautiful. Keep the beautiful and informative pictures coming. ^_^
