[...] Kidô Senshi Gundam (機動戦士ガンダム) est une œuvre culte du Japon de l’après guerre que l’on doit à Tomino Yoshiyuki. Au même titre que Mazinger-Z c’est un anime qui jouit d’une grosse influence sur les productions ultérieures. Il y a un avant et un après gundam. Auparavant, il n’y avait que des séries de robot mais la création de Tomino a tellement tranché avec les codes des productions antérieures qu’on s’est mis à faire une distinction real robot/super robot. Alors que Mazinger-Z était le parangon du super robot avec son colosse de métal affrontant d’étranges créatures pour sauver l’humanité sur un ton épique. Gundam présentait quant à lui des conflit plus réalistes opposant des humains entre eux et se focalisait plus sur l’aspect politique et militaire. L’impact que Gundam a eu sur la société japonaise est tel qu’on pourrait qualifier cette saga de nouvelle religion d’état. [...]
