No more Smoking at stations

img_1262It’s April 1st tomorrow, the start of the new financial year, and JR East are putting into practice their new policy of no smoking at stations in central Tokyo. These posters were up for a while a few weeks ago, but have now disappeared. I think JR might be worried about complaints and so have decided not to highlight the issue too much.

The non-smoking change is slowly being seen in restaurants and other public places as well.

Here is one of the posters in the train.

Yes, good poster. I took this in a hurry as I was going to meet someone, then realised it wasn't a good photo. I went to retake it the next day and the posters were all gone. Luck I didn't delete the first one.
